Renault Type C Laitier Panel Van (1900) Exterior and Interior
1900 Renault Type C Laitier Panel Van seen from outside and inside. The vehicle has single-cylinder 3.5 hp De Dion engine. Transmission at the rear wheels. Cable brake. Length 3.45 m. Width 1.70 m. Weight 700 kg. As early as 1900, Renault - noting the use - and the market - that could be made of automobiles in the utility or service fields, offered a Type C panel van in parallel to the small car in which it finished first in its category in the Paris-Toulouse-Paris race. Equipped like the first cars with a single-cylinder De Dion engine, a direct drive gearbox and a drive to rear wheel shaft driven by universal joint, the vehicle had a body to benefit from maximum load volume. This small 3 hp panel van with a 250 kg payload was the first self-propelled vehicle for industrial and commercial use. The truck was presented at 2018 IAA commercial vehicles, Hannover, Germany - Thursday, 20 September - Thursday, 27 September 2018.
